Campfire Stories: The Road Trip of Terror

As summer approaches more people are going out camping and enjoying all of the wonderful camping activities the great outdoors has to offer. My personal favorite activity is making (mostly eating) s’mores! It’s the one food item that when it really comes down to it I have no self-control. I say “Oh I’ll just make one” but I mean “we’ll need more than two bags of marshmallows”. It’s a slippery slope. The only thing that can stop my ravenous marshmallow eating rampage is a good and truly scary campfire story. So today, in the spirit of warmer weather and summer nights, I’ll tell you a scary story. One that will chill you to your bones. A truly haunting story.

It all started on one warm and luxurious summer day. The plan was simple: Go on a trip to Three Sisters Volcanoes. What a lovely adventure for three sisters to embark on in their 2018 Chevy Equinox. As the sisters traveled down the narrow and winding road, the air became noticeably warmer, stifling even. We tried to the air conditioning on, BUT no cool air would come out of the vents because they didn’t bother to change the air filter (oooooooooo spookyyyy)! The suffocating heat was overwhelming! The sisters had no choice but to roll the windows down.

The second the windows were rolled down, the skies opened up and rain thundered down on the car. The eldest sister turned on the windshield wipers, but alas, the blades had dulled so the windshield would not clear enough for her to see as she drove. IF ONLY SHE HAD REPLACED HER WIPER BLADES! (ohhhhhh the horror!!!) Fortunately, because the windows were already open and the sisters were, by this point drenched, and therefore unafraid of getting wet. The eldest sister stuck her head out the window in an effort to see better.

Lurking off in the distance with its red and blue lights dormant until the next unsuspecting delinquent passes by, was an officer of the law. The three sisters didn’t see the officer as they sped by, heads out the window in an attempt to see a little bit of where they are going. Lights flashing, sirens blaring, the sisters looked back and pulled off to the side of the road, sealing their fate. Lo and behold, a safety violation and a speeding ticket were their punishment. IF ONLY THEY HAD BEEN MORE CAREFUL DRIVERS (THE INHUMANITY!). Having been sufficiently chastised by the officer, the sisters continued on their way.

Just as they were about to reach their destination, the hear a thud and an otherworldly screeching, followed by a loud pop. As the sisters veered off to the side of the road, it was clear what had happened. “A POTHOLE” the youngest sister cried in terror! The roads, which were well worn and ravaged by time, take revenge on unsuspecting drivers from time to time. The fates decided that it was the sisters’ time to pay their dues. Just when they thought that their time was up and all was lost, the middle sister used Chevy’s OnStar services and had roadside assistance there for them in 15 minutes. When a simple drive becomes a horror story, the plethora of safety features in the 2018 Chevy Equinox from Galles Chevrolet has your back!
